How We Secure a Motorcycle
Bikes ride on a flatbed, never dragged. The front wheel goes into a chock that holds it upright. Soft loop straps wrap the lower triple clamp or another solid point, and ratchet straps pull the bike down evenly so the suspension is compressed and the bike cannot sway.
Soft loops are the key detail. Hooks and bare strap hardware can chip paint and bend bars, so we put cloth or webbing between metal and your finish. The rear wheel is secured separately, and the driver checks tension again after the first few miles.
Tell dispatch about fairings, saddlebags, lowered suspension and aftermarket exhausts. Those change where the straps go.
Bikes and Situations We See
Dropped or crashed bike
We load carefully when the bars are bent or the forks are damaged. Skates and a winch can bring a non-rolling bike onto the deck.
Mechanical breakdown
Chain, clutch, charging system or fuel problems are common. We can deliver the bike to our shop or your preferred mechanic.
Flat tire
A tubeless puncture on a bike needs a proper repair. See our flat tire help and tire center.
Seasonal storage and dealer moves
If your bike is running but you cannot ride it, a planned haul to a dealer or storage spot is also available.
Antique Cars and Specialty Vehicles
The same care applies to antique autos, project cars and show vehicles. A flatbed with soft straps keeps tires, trim and low-slung bodywork from touching the road. If you have a classic with a long overhang or low front air dam, tell dispatch so we plan the ramp angle first.
What to Do Before the Truck Arrives
- Turn off the engine, remove the key and set the fork lock if you can.
- Take your helmet, phone and gear with you. The bike rides alone on the deck.
- Shut off the fuel petcock if your bike has one.
- Stay well off the road. Bike riders are hard to see on shoulders at dusk.
- Take photos of existing scratches for your own records.
Riders often ask if they can ride along. It depends on the truck and the seat count, so ask when you call.

“Riders put a lot of themselves into a bike. We tie it down the way we would want ours tied down, with soft straps, chocks and no shortcuts.”
