What Happens When We Arrive at a Crash Scene
- We park to protect the scene. The truck is positioned with warning lights on so the crew and your vehicle are visible to approaching traffic.
- We assess the vehicle. The driver checks for leaking fluids, bent steering parts, locked wheels and anything sharp that could puncture a tire or the straps.
- We pick a loading method. A car with a broken axle may need skates or dollies. One in a ditch may need a winch pull first, which we cover on our winch-out recovery page.
- We load, secure and photograph. Straps go on solid structural points. Photos record the condition at pickup.
- We tow where you decide. Our yard, a body shop, an insurance lot or your home.
Debris is part of the job too. Broken plastic and glass on the pavement can flatten the next driver’s tire, so we sweep what we reasonably can before we leave.
Where Your Damaged Car Goes
Your insurer may name a preferred body shop or a company lot. If so, tell dispatch and we deliver there. If you have no plan yet, our yard at 1007 Logan Ave is the neutral option: it is fenced and kept off the street while you make calls.
The difference from a typical impound is cost and clarity. If the car is repaired with us, there is no storage fee. If you take it elsewhere, we will tell you before the tow what any holding period would cost, so a surprise invoice never lands on top of a bad day.
Insurance, Receipts and Paperwork
Many auto policies reimburse towing and storage after a covered claim. We give you an itemized receipt that lists the hook-up, miles and any extra labor, which is the kind of paperwork adjusters ask for. We cannot say what your own policy will pay, so call your insurer or agent early and ask about towing coverage, rental coverage and deductible rules.
Those are carriers whose members commonly ask us for receipts. We are not affiliated with any of them.
Where We Respond
We recover vehicles along the US-20 bypass, at the I-90 interchanges, on East State Street in Rockford, around the CherryVale Mall area and out on IL-76 toward Poplar Grove. Wherever it happened, give dispatch the nearest cross street or landmark and we find you.
What It Costs
| Item | How we price it |
|---|---|
| Recovery and hook-up | Quoted upfront by phone |
| Winching from a ditch or embankment | Added to the quote only if needed |
| Storage at our yard | $0 when repaired with us. Quoted in advance otherwise |
| Receipt for insurance | Itemized, free |
We cannot predict what your insurer will cover, so ask them about towing and storage limits.
Details verified October 2026. Final numbers are always confirmed by phone before a truck rolls.

“Nobody calls us on a good day. We keep the calls short, tell people what happens next, and never push them to pick a shop while they are still shaking.”
